The ongoing surge operations in western Jamaica intensified over the last 48 hours, with agents from the United States Homeland Security joining local law enforcement in a crackdown on illicit lottery scamming activities. A
22-year-old woman was arrested on suspected breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent
Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act in operations in Bobman Hill, Rose Hall in St. James. US $15,700 was found during a search of her home, along with a laptop and a cellular phone. Detectives found lottery scamming paraphernalia when they analysed the devices; they were seized. She was also unable to account for the money found in her possession, hence it was also seized.
